Nicola Sturgeon quizzed on Highland’s health
09 December 2009

Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Nicola Sturgeon, was in Inverness yesterday (7th December 2009) for the Annual Review of NHS Highland. As part of the day she met with representatives who have experienced different parts of NHS Highland including Youth Convener, Magnus Monahan. The issues raised included sexual health, confidentiality, mental health and underage drinking. These are all issues that have been discussed by Highland Youth Voice’s health campaign group. The Cabinet Secretary was also given copies of the reports on the last Health themed conference and the “Making Highland Healthy” debate. Ms Sturgeon agreed that she would raise some of the issues with the NHS Highland Board, who she was meeting with later, and she would also pass on some information about mental health services. There was also comment and questions raised by Andrew MacLeod, from Health and Happiness in Fort William, Emma Hastings on breastfeeding, Irene Edwards from the Cowal Community Care Forum, and Adrian Miles  a heart & knee patient from Mid Argyll.
